How To Dress When You Have Nothing To Wear

Who has not happened to get up in the morning, stand in front of the closet and have no idea where to start dressing? With the 'I don't know what to wear' it makes me want to give up completely trying to get well dressed, put on my pajamas again and forget about stepping on the street all day. If seclusion at home is not an option (because you have things to do, fundamentally), here are 9 'pro' tricks to completely tear down the myth of rebel cabinets.

1. TRUST THE BASICS

Here we gave you a lot of ideas to immediately give more style to any garment that you have put on 1,001 times, and this applies especially to the basics: a sleeve rolled up, a bottom-up, a corner of the jersey tucked in by the skirt ... They are the table of salvation in the days of 'I don't know what to wear'; the best ones: garments in neutral colors, which stick with everything, such as gray, beige or white; that is, any color that when combined with another does not detract from it. It is also essential to keep a pair of jeans, a black skirt and a cool cardigan in the bedroom. Versatility is not written with 'b' of basic, but it should.

2. LOWER THE VOLUME IN THE CLOTHES AND UPLOAD IT IN THE COMPLEMENTS

The next step in a back to basics styling: if you lower the volume on the clothes, you have to raise them in the accessories. For example, adding metallic ballerinas to a sweater set with a swan neck, pencil skirt, and black tights. Or a statement bag in strong or primary colors (red, green and blue) to a basic t-shirt suit with jeans. If you do not have accessories in dominant colors, look for something from a twist to the total style: a 'novena' backpack in a dusty color, a set of maxi bracelets on both wrists, oversized glasses with a mirror lens ...

3. 'BLACK & WHITE FOREVER'

No matter what clothes you wear on a day you wake up with the 'crooked closet': if they are black and white, you can be 100% sure that the outfit will work without too much trouble. Try a sporty look with a raw knitted sweater with a turtleneck (perfect for not having to think or follow the shirt), shorts, bushy stockings, and ultra white sneakers; or more rocker, like a printed t-shirt with a leather motorcycle jacket and black pants.

4. CHANGE OF EXPRESS 'LOOK'

Sometimes the feeling of boredom that we perceive when dressing is not related so much to the skill that we have to combine the garments (if you remember the permutations you studied at school, only with a handful of tops and pants can hundreds of combinations come out ), but with how it makes us feel to always wear a certain style, especially if we abuse the same clothes on a day-to-day basis or have a slightly uniformed office style. In such cases, it is best to forget for a moment about the individual clothes and think about the rest of the look: what would make you feel better? You can try for example with different nail colors or aRouge of lips if you do not usually wear it often, or experiment with a new hairstyle that you can do in five minutes, such as a high-braid braid or a ponytail with a headband.

5. Scarves & Scarves

If you have ever wondered how your best friend can have so many different scarves, it is not that she has many: it is that you do not have enough. Handkerchiefs and scarves, whether you take them to the neck and head type babushka, are the garment that encourages any basic styling even though pants with the shirt you've put hundreds of times. Also, it is ready to wear: you can carry it in your bag, stored or knotted on the outside as a compliment, and put it on whenever you see fit. Look for plain knit scarves for winter, and scarves with graphic prints for summer. A couple of turns around the neck, sunglasses, lipstick and voila.

6. GET A TURN ON THE 'STREETSTYLE'

Oh, the bloggers ... what would the world be without them when we run out of inspiration. If you have three or four reference blogs, it is more than likely that you also have a folder on the desktop of your computer where you have been carefully saving your favorite looks. If you don't have it, today is a good day to start. Who says a folder with files says a Pinterest board or an Instagram account: when you have a crooked day and do not feel like fighting with the closet, turn to fashion gurus to find inspiration. Then you will see new ways to combine clothes, prints, and colors.

7. REGULARLY DO A CABINET CLEANING

Especially if you have a place to store everything you have leftover: go over your clothes one by one and leave aside what you have put yourself to satiety. Keep them in a box for a while (at least a couple of months), and reopen it in one of those days of 'crooked closet': the reunion with some of them will be like going shopping again, without having to spend a Euro in something you already had. If you do not feel anything for a particular garment, it is time to start thinking about donating it.

8. ROTATE YOUR CLOTHES TO YOUR BOY

Do you remember when the boyfriend jeans became fashionable and no one didn't have some in his closet? That garment bears that name for something. Whether jeans with a rolled-up hem, an extra-long cardigan with leggings or a plaid flannel shirt over a short Nirvana-style top: if you have a partner (or a very confident BFF ), your closet can become your salvation when it comes to finding that garment that unlocks the effect 'I don't know what to wear'. Ask permission first (or later forgiveness).

9. WHEN YOU GO SHOPPING, THINK OF 'LOOKS' AND NOT OF CLOTHING

It seems silly, but if you go shopping you think of complete looks and not so much in individual garments, you will already have a good base to work with when you have to get involved and mix the different styles of your closet. When you have a new garment in your hand, before even addressing the fitting room (if it suits you, you are lost), think about how many other items in your closet you can combine. If you fill your shelves with clothes that block your imagination because they hardly go with anything, you will have many more days of 'I don't know what to wear', more often. This mix & match is especially important in the field of the basics.
